harry chapin :: cat’s in the cradle (live – video)
(9:28:52 AM) chrysanthalbee: good mornin dad
(9:29:13 AM) dad: HI GUY…..
(9:30:21 AM) dad: maybe a hot Good morning….but still I’m alive this am
(9:30:43 AM) chrysanthalbee: yep
(9:30:52 AM) chrysanthalbee: and it is kind of warm our there
(9:30:55 AM) chrysanthalbee: esp on a bike
(9:31:32 AM) dad: I saw Lawrence made the (not so good) news yeterday
(9:32:38 AM) dad: something about a naked man after a female biker?
(9:32:45 AM) dad: ?
(9:32:57 AM) chrysanthalbee: oh i did see that little bit yesterday
(9:33:04 AM) chrysanthalbee: not a lot of info on it at the time
(9:33:17 AM) chrysanthalbee: really odd. that’s not more than a mile from my house.
(9:33:40 AM) chrysanthalbee: some middle aged lady got arrested for stripping and swimming in the river in front of a stranger not too long ago
(9:33:58 AM) chrysanthalbee: and just in the last 2 weeks some guy jumped into the river.. said he was going for a swim
(9:34:23 AM) dad: OK ? they did not SHOW that one
(9:35:30 AM) chrysanthalbee: oh yeah he was okay i guess. i biked past when the firetruck and police were stopping traffic going north
(9:35:35 AM) chrysanthalbee: saw them looking over
(9:35:46 AM) chrysanthalbee: glad it wasn’t suicide but it was something akin to it i reckon
(9:35:47 AM) dad: maybe that is another part of the stimulatus package :)
(9:36:09 AM) dad: (the naked lady)
(9:37:04 AM) dad: :)
(9:37:15 AM) chrysanthalbee: is that a jab at the current administration?
(9:37:57 AM) dad: I thought it was a funny play on words
(9:38:41 AM) chrysanthalbee: yeah kind of but considering some of the emails i get from you i would figure you might want to poke fun at obama and the democratic congress
(9:38:54 AM) chrysanthalbee: honestly some of that stuff is just asinine
(9:39:29 AM) chrysanthalbee: not just cause i voted for him but i think the stories that people come up to scare people or mock something different is just ridiculous
(9:39:53 AM) chrysanthalbee: even if you don’t like the politics i’d think that some people would see through these really just stupid outlandish stories
(9:40:03 AM) dad: their not real funny…..just dangerous
(9:40:15 AM) chrysanthalbee: i might as well believe in the phishing emails i get saying some prince in uganda left me money
(9:40:24 AM) chrysanthalbee: and if i just send them $100 it will be wired to me
(9:40:38 AM) chrysanthalbee: i’m just saying the stories that i only partially read
(9:40:43 AM) chrysanthalbee: cause some of them disgust me
(9:40:57 AM) chrysanthalbee: are just so fairy tale like i just can’t believe people actually believe it
(9:41:17 AM) chrysanthalbee: and someone might just say it’s a liberal agenda or somehow the devil is involved
(9:41:36 AM) chrysanthalbee: and that just cops them out of actually analyzing what some of these mockeries are
Unknown command.
(9:41:45 AM) chrysanthalbee: [/end]rant
(9:42:22 AM) chrysanthalbee: not really going off on you but just so you know i really don’t read hardly any of that stuff that you send me once it starts to head down some fairy tale path
(9:43:26 AM) dad: yeah, I followed that email thread some time ago..I knew it was a scam …I’ll tell you about it sometime…real interesting how far the scam will go
(9:44:00 AM) chrysanthalbee: which scam?
(9:44:06 AM) chrysanthalbee: the nigerian phishing scams?
(9:45:17 AM) dad: yes
(9:46:03 AM) chrysanthalbee: yeah those are one of the longest running scams that has gone on in the digital world
(9:47:43 AM) dad: Chad you choose what path you take..as your father and friend…we must keep out eyes open – these are serious days for us and our children and my grandchildren. I think we have a responsibility to them not government of this world.
(9:47:59 AM) chrysanthalbee: it’s just a good example of if someone wants to believe enough in something they’ll forgo logical thought to give into fantasy
(9:48:18 AM) dad: right
(9:48:29 AM) chrysanthalbee: oh i agree. my responsibility is invested in my children.
(9:49:34 AM) dad: President Obama and the liberal administration is leading the wrong way
(9:50:02 AM) chrysanthalbee: and we should be wary. i’m not convinced nor expecting a president or a government to change things for the better, instead i try and do that every day. first with my children and spouse, then the rest of my family then the community around me. i treat people with kindness and don’t act out of malice until someone wrongs me or my family.
(9:50:57 AM) chrysanthalbee: but to believe stories that obama is a closet muslim and that is somehow tied to our country changing for the worse is just pandering to those that just don’t want him in office
(9:51:08 AM) dad: From a business standpoint ( I do know business) the present congress does NOT know anything about business 101
(9:51:10 AM) chrysanthalbee: either because he’s black or different or just not the same political color as him
(9:51:33 AM) chrysanthalbee: dad. come on. do you NET more than $250,000 a year?!
(9:51:36 AM) chrysanthalbee: i sure don’t
(9:51:48 AM) chrysanthalbee: and the people that do are gonna complain if they get taxed more.
(9:52:06 AM) chrysanthalbee: of course then they’ll spread rumors to the people that want to believe in them
(9:52:51 AM) chrysanthalbee: because those people that make all the money in the world are usually republicans (nothing wrong with that) or christian (definitely nothing wrong with that). but too often they are christian for political reasons
(9:53:20 AM) chrysanthalbee: these same people that would not support obama will look the other way when fred phelps pickets the funeral of a fallen soldier
(9:53:27 AM) chrysanthalbee: that seems far from christian to me
(9:53:39 AM) chrysanthalbee: and seems vastly more evil than really just about anything i can imagine
(9:53:54 AM) dad: business 101 rule: (common sense) a business does not grow by spending more that we can pay for
(9:54:04 AM) chrysanthalbee: wrong.
(9:54:07 AM) chrysanthalbee: dead wrong.
(9:54:26 AM) chrysanthalbee: businesses borrow money and then spend it on capital investments in the hopes that they will eventually be debt free
(9:54:43 AM) chrysanthalbee: and too many people use the same business model in their own life
(9:54:57 AM) chrysanthalbee: that’s why we have a financial mess dad. people borrowed more than they had
(9:55:12 AM) chrysanthalbee: bought things they couldn’t afford when they were told that the housing market would never collapse
(9:55:48 AM) chrysanthalbee: and richer people than we have ever known bundled those investments of the masses and turned them into securities that were bound to fail unless things kept going up and up
(9:56:05 AM) chrysanthalbee: common sense 102: that which goes up must come down
(9:56:25 AM) chrysanthalbee: i’m not trying to say i have the answers but blaming people and mocking and slandering others does not pay the bills
(9:56:37 AM) chrysanthalbee: it has no higher purpose which makes people happy
(9:56:46 AM) chrysanthalbee: rather it explains why people are in misery
(9:56:57 AM) chrysanthalbee: i aspire to hope … i’m an optimistic realist
(9:57:10 AM) chrysanthalbee: i hope but i don’t expect the sky. i’m just gonna keep on doing what i believe is right
(9:57:16 AM) chrysanthalbee: cause i’m an avid breather
(9:57:23 AM) chrysanthalbee: and i plan on breathing for a little while longer
(9:57:38 AM) dad: BUSINESS borrows with the ability to create income and pay back. – Government produces Nothing.
(9:58:27 AM) chrysanthalbee: government provides for infrastructure. government pays for police and schools and my paycheck.
(9:58:42 AM) chrysanthalbee: government has paid outlandish amounts of money in a war in iraq
(9:58:51 AM) chrysanthalbee: leaving so many dead and so little has changed
(9:58:56 AM) dad: FROM our backs—taxes
(9:59:02 AM) chrysanthalbee: yes. we pay taxes.
(9:59:03 AM) dad: they produce nothing
(9:59:20 AM) dad: PRODUCT – nothing
(9:59:24 AM) chrysanthalbee: dad that is so wrong i’m sorry to hear you say. could we govern ourselves without an infrastructure?
(9:59:54 AM) chrysanthalbee: we couldn’t
(9:59:59 AM) chrysanthalbee: do you not want police?
(10:00:03 AM) chrysanthalbee: how about the fire department?
(10:00:18 AM) dad: the first americans did
(10:00:31 AM) chrysanthalbee: do you hate the fact that you paid taxes for me to get the most amazing secondary education i could get?
(10:00:35 AM) chrysanthalbee: is that a regret?
(10:00:41 AM) chrysanthalbee: yeah the first americans were so few
(10:02:01 AM) chrysanthalbee: it seems that people feel like they’re entitled to these services without pay
(10:02:27 AM) chrysanthalbee: complain that we pay taxes but then complain when the police can’t get to your house soon enough in an emergency
(10:02:40 AM) dad: us – the people has done wonderful things. the structure was bought and created by “we the people” not the government
(10:02:59 AM) chrysanthalbee: it’s like some 18 year old coming to the university and saying.. hey let me go to school here. then when asked to pay they’d complain?
(10:03:20 AM) dad: (trying to keep up) sorry, I’m a little slow
(10:03:48 AM) chrysanthalbee: yes dad WE did it. but i have never lifted a single finger to patch the holes in my road or build the bridge that crosses the river nor have i chased after a criminal risking my own life so that others are safe
(10:04:23 AM) chrysanthalbee: it’s okay it’s a lot of stuff. i don’t think we will agree. but i can agree to disagree. i love you and that is irrespective of just about anything else.
(10:04:47 AM) chrysanthalbee: it’s just that honest debate is way better than sending a veiled message email about some outlandish fact someone made up
(10:04:55 AM) chrysanthalbee: or has twisted to suit their needs.
(10:05:01 AM) chrysanthalbee: like i said i’d rather be hopeful
(10:05:08 AM) dad: we DID do it – with our taxes
(10:05:16 AM) chrysanthalbee: there’s so little time in life to hate
(10:05:27 AM) dad: agree
(10:05:40 AM) chrysanthalbee: okay so we don’t pay taxes. who pays the policeman the fireman the librarian the teachers?
(10:06:35 AM) dad: sales taxes , should
(10:07:13 AM) chrysanthalbee: well our sales taxes would have to go up tremendously to support all the government we had. what about the military?
(10:07:31 AM) chrysanthalbee: we had a trade surplus before all the war stuff but we’ve got the hugest deficit ever now
(10:08:01 AM) chrysanthalbee: and that is really irrespective of administration.. clinton was lucky to do the right things given a decent financial situation coming in.. in the right place right time
(10:08:25 AM) dad: Obama is a big part of the debt problem
(10:08:47 AM) chrysanthalbee: maybe bush would have gone further into deficit without the war because of a turning economy but surely the war has made it go up exponentially
(10:09:20 AM) chrysanthalbee: dad.. obama was a state senator just a few short years ago. so you mean to tell me he has/had a significant impact on the debt we have now?
(10:09:28 AM) chrysanthalbee: what kind of sense does that make?
(10:09:34 AM) chrysanthalbee: is he some kind of wizard or something?
(10:10:00 AM) chrysanthalbee: maybe he is into voodoo or something? he is so powerful he can sway our entire economy while perched in a state senator office in illinois
(10:10:05 AM) chrysanthalbee: that is just preposterous
(10:10:15 AM) chrysanthalbee: sorry for the impassioned speech but that is just stupid
(10:13:45 AM) dad: I love you. I think our discussion was good and good for us (me, for sure). I will still encourage you not to fall in love with Obama. He is just a politician, not a savior. He made promises ( as has other s before him). that he has not kept. Color has nothing to do with me like or dislike of anyone – character and integrity does.
(10:14:40 AM) dad: I probably missed some of this dialogue – I’ll try to get up to speed
(10:14:44 AM) chrysanthalbee: one more thing and then i’ll pause a bit. as to the “serious times” we are in.. when aren’t we in “serious times”? at any moment we could cease to exist. we face death daily. that’s not to be scary or anything but i really do love my family and enjoy our times here. maybe we have more time in the afterlife. i’m not sure but i do know i love all of you now and it’s serious business trying to enjoy it while i have it.
(10:16:00 AM) dad: I am sooo PROUD of you as a father to your children
(10:16:04 AM) chrysanthalbee: dad. obama is not a savior. i do not love him. i don’t believe he has the magic ability to change all the serious situations out there anymore than i believe he has used his magic ability to change our economy while he was an unknown senator.
(10:16:14 AM) chrysanthalbee: thanks. that’s what i want to be known for.
(10:16:18 AM) chrysanthalbee: and by. my kids.
(10:16:38 AM) dad: it show well…….
(10:17:24 AM) dad: that same love you feel for your children..is what I feel toward you
(10:19:38 AM) dad: that is why I pray each day for you & all our family…”for everyone one to make heaven” – ever what it takes
(10:21:50 AM) dad: thanks for the visit……Dad
(10:21:52 AM) chrysanthalbee: thanks. and when it comes down to it i prefer to talk openly with you about something. i want to read your emails or hear your thoughts as you have them. not someone else’s thoughts. i care more to hear what you think even if i don’t agree. it’s just too bad that sometimes i have to filter my emails from you and decide if should read it all or not. your thoughts and words, i read. salacious rumors, i don’t.
(10:21:59 AM) chrysanthalbee: yeah thanks. i love you
